Provo Gun Club is looking for enthusiastic staff members and volunteers. Staff members earn tips in addition to your regular wages!
Provo Gun club provides opportunities for recreational and competitive shotgun shooting for its members, guests and invited public. We also provide specialized shooting events as directed by the board of directors. In addition, Provo Gun Club actively hosts and/or engages in educational events for the safe handling of firearms. Safety is the governing consideration at all times.
Job Title: Temporary/Seasonal Trap Help
Hours: Special Events: Friday evenings as needed, Saturdays as needed (9:00 am - 4:00 pm)
Facility: Provo Gun Club
Reports To: Executive Vice President
-ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Ensure the safety of all shooters, employees, customers, guests, etc.
Throw targets for shooters as they call (Most machines are automatic and remote controlled).
Pull games as asked, and keep ACCURATE scores.
Carry boxes of targets to stations.
Keep skeet and trap machines filled. Put more cases of targets in the trap and skeet houses as necessary.
Keep skeet and trap houses free of cardboard and other debris. Sweep them out.
Pick up any empty shotgun shells that are left on the ground. Keep the shooting fields clean.
Pick up any trash that may be on the ground.
Empty all garbage cans (Including all outside garbage cans as well as those inside the club house).
Keep the clubhouse clean.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
-MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS include the following:
Most positions require a minimum age of 16. However a limited number of positions for those age 14 and 15 are available.
Most positions typically don't require any experience and employees are trained on the job.
All employees should be pleasant, enjoy working with people, and be able to tolerate loud noise and difficult customers.
Must be able to repeatedly lift at least 30 lbs. sometimes up steep terrain (weight of one case of targets).
Good mechanical and practical skills.
Background checks and drug tests are often performed on employees in this field, so make sure your record is squeaky clean.
-WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
Exposed to the elements for extended periods of time (direct sunlight, heat, cold, rain, hail, snow, etc.).
Ability to work with little supervision.
Frequent interaction with other Team Members, Directors, Shooting Participants, and Customers.
Ability to work in a fast pace environment.
Good communication skills are a must in order to explain safety procedures and instructions to shooters.
Must be able to respond quickly to a call of the shooter.
Must be able to quickly and repeatedly pull for a target.
Good customer care skills.
Awareness of health and safety.
The ability to follow set instructions and procedures.
The ability to keep calm and cope with emergencies.
Ability to listen effectively.
